I had to start these... - Oli ihan pakko aloittaa... :)

La D Da - Merry Sunshine
35 count Kansas City Blend (R&R Reproductions)
Stitched with Needlepoint Silks and DMC (1 strand over 2 fabric threads)

Valérie Lejeune: J'aime
Fabric unknown handdyed (28-32 count Silkweaver?)
Stitched with DMC 815 (2 strands over 2 fabric threads)

Thank you so much for your comments on my mittens and exchange! I've been wearing my mittens couple of times now and I love them :)

Of course I had to start something new as it's a new year! I took these photos yesterday, I've been stitching a bit more now. This is the first La D Da chart I actually start stitching, if I don't count Christmas ornaments. I LOVE this chart, but then again I love them all :) I think however that the poor girl looks a bit pale and maybe I'll change the colour (again) for the face... What do you think? I don't have the silk for face, but the DMC conversion in the chart is much too dark in my opinion. So I've tried four different DMC colours so far...

The other start is from Valérie Lejeune's book Marquoirs en Liberté. She has made a sampler with text "J'aime" (I love) in the middle and then she has stitched around all kinds of things she loves. So I'll do the same, I've taken the borders from the chart and I will of course change the words and stitch what I love. I know it's a bit difficult to realize from this tiny start how it's going to look like, but I will try to take photos often as I stitch. Basically all the words will be in rows, from 3 to 5 words in a row and then in between a border. I've started with the word Septembre (September) as I really love September :)

I was thinking if I should stitch this in Finnish, but there would be a grammar problem with inflection (I hope that's the correct word...). I bet you are not interested in Finnish grammar details, so I won't explain it here, but that's the reason for choosing French :) If you're interested, I'll be happy to explain though :D

Barbara was arranging a rotation and since I read that in her blog, I've been wondering if I should start some kind of rotation again too. As I'll be stitching less exchanges this year, I thought it might work. I'm also having a temporary break (until autumn) from a dear hobby which takes much time, as I really don't want my life to be as busy as last autumn. So I think I'll have a bit more time to stitch and I'll try rotation again :) As I want to stitch gifts too, I'll rotate my WIPs and I'll stitch one WIP for a week, in addition to gift and exchange and RR stitching. That gives me freedom but also an outline which should help in finishing something big too. I'll add a list to the sidebar and I'll try to follow. This week I'll stitch Merry Sunshine.

Oh well, I had no idea I have so much to write :) Now I'm off to stitch the last stitches of this holiday, as tomorrow I'll start working again :) Have a happy week!

Tykkään tuosta ihan hulluna, no tykkään niistä kaikista kyllä.

Toinen uusi työ on Valérie Lejeunen kirjsta Marquoirs en Liberté.

Your new starts both look lovely. I think the girl's face looks fine, it didn't strike me as being too pale at all.

Moi naapuri!

Hienoja noista on tulossa! :)

Kiva malli tuo Merry Sunshine. Lista niistä jutuista mistä tykkää olisi ihan hyvä näkyä seinällä koko ajan, muistaisi huonoina päivinä että on niitä hyviäkin juttuja olemassa. :)

Two great starts. I think I should add a La-D-Da design for my projects for this year, too, as I have never stitched one and they are all so lovely.

Goodness Leena - I think the colour of the face is perfect - not too pale at all :)

Love your start with J'aime - I will watch with interest as this one grows. I just bought a French chart which has French words but I am very tempted to translate the words into Italian since I am still doing my Italian thing - although it is a very French style chart but I guess some people would convert the words to English so why not Italian???

The things we spend time thinking and thinking about!!!!

Ei näytä liian kalpealta ainakaan kuvassa. Tummempi ihon väri voisi sulautua liikaa tuohon pohjakankaan väriin. Ihana malli!

I love your new starts! I'm similar to you in that I don't have as many exchanges this year so I might try a rotation too. I have seen a few different ones and think on emay work for me. That is, if I can just get off this computer!!! xx
