St Hippolyte

I stitched St Hippolyte on Sunday, I just love this band! The colours are so surprising and it's great to stitch these bright colours after the bees. There are still butterflies missing around the flower, but the flower is finished. There will be two more flowers like this in this band and then to the next one!

I didn't take a photo of the whole design this time, but older photos can be seen at my photo album or at Violarium's Photo gallery.

*****

Angel of Spring

L&L Angel of Spring has been my WIP (or UFO) for couple of years maybe? I like the design a lot, but I've always had something else (more important) to stitch. Now I'll stitch it every other Saturday, so hopefully it will be finished one day. The colours are beautiful and I enjoy stitching this. It's so different than my other projects.

Years ago, I've been "adopted" by a stitcher, in an Adopt-a-Stitcher program in CCS Yahoo group. The stitcher who adopted me, Cathie in the USA, is the most wonderful adopter imaginable. She has recommended to me new designs and designers, I have learnt and continue learning so much from her. Thank you so much Cathie for everything, if you read this! This was the first design she chose for me and sent the materials for it. So this angel has a special place in my heart and I always think of Cathie when I stitch this. I already have a perfect place on the wall for this one, now I only need to stitch!

*****

Talvikuvasta Virpille, tuo kuva on otettu siis kun tästä tietokoneelta pääni nostan, työhuoneesta. Olohuoneessa yleensä pistelen, tosin sielläkin puolella taloa on puita jonkun verran :)

A quiet winter day - Hiljainen talvinen lauantai

It's such a lovely, quiet winter day today. As I've been working on the computer, I've been admiring this silent view from the window. So I thought I'll share it with you :) It's snowing slowly, but that can't be seen in the photo really. We have so little snow this year, as the first snow melted away in October and then it didn't snow again until for Christmas. But now it's been slowly snowing for couple of days, shoveling is in the schedule later today.

Stitching updates posted hopefully tomorrow. Happy Saturday :)

*****

Pistelykuvia tulossa huomenissa toivottavasti, L&L:n enkeliä on tarkoitus jatkaa tänään.

Christmas mail art - Joulukuori

Thank you for all the comments, it's always such a pleasure to receive comments :) Vonna, yes, I realized now that there are more than four of those Shepherd's Bush ornaments! I have a chart for the first four and then I think I have all the JCS Ornament issues since 2004, so maybe I do have all of them, I have to check... I just love those ornaments and I'd love to see them hanging in my tree one day.

I have been rotating successfully for almost two weeks now. On Wednesday and yesterday I've been finishing couple of exchanges that should be sent next week. So I have no photos to show. But I will show you this, it is a mail art I received for Christmas from Anke, thank you so much Anke! It was such a lovely surprise to receive this, I just love surprises! I just love the Christmas trees in this, they are so original and bright! The stamps are beautiful too, in my opinion pretty stamps make almost half of the mail art, well at least a quarter :)

Happy weekend and happy stitching!

*****

Kiitos kovasti kommenteista, niitä on aina yhtä ihana lukea!

Kuva vaan on jäänyt laittamatta aikaisemmin. Tykkään kovasti tästä kuoresta, noissa kuusissa ja väreissä on jotain retroa, seitkytlukua :) Ja kauniit postimerkitkin. Minun mielestä melkein puolet pisteltyjen kirjekuorten ihanuudesta tulee kauniista postimerkeistä, pistelyä mitenkään väheksymättä.

Ihanaa viikonloppua, pistelemisiin!

Squirrel (and another animal...?) - Orava (ja joku muu eläin...?)

I'm sorry for the break in updating my blog! I know I promised to update more often this year. I have spent my freetime thinking of something else, miaouw, than stitching. Update photos of this another thing hopefully in the end of next week... :)

But this one will soon look like a squirrel. It is stitched over one and that is all I did during four hours on Monday! Once a month we have a meeting with stitchers of this area and we have lots of fun chatting and stitching. For me it's mostly chatting as you can see...

*****

Tulipas tauko päivittämisessä, vaikka lupasin useammin tänä vuonna päivitellä blogia. Viime päivien vapaa-aika on kulunut ihan muissa merkeissä, miau, kuin pistellessä. Kuvia tulossa näillä näkymin ensi viikon lopulla :)

Kuvan pistelystä on tulossa orava. Aloitin sitä maanantaina OUPSin tapaamisessa. OUlulaiset ristiPiStelijät tapaavat noin kerran kuussa, lähinnä näköjään jutellen eikä pistellen, pistelyvauhdista päätellen. Neljän tunnin aikana sain aikaan tuon verran, en kovin monta pistoa siis! Orava pistellään pellavasydämelle yhden langan yli, mukava pieni miniatyyri vaihteeksi.

Come Tarry and couple of finishes - Come Tarry ja jotain valmista

Thank you SO much for all the comments on the pillow! I enjoyed stitching it so much and am happy to have it finished into a pillow now.

I've been testing the rotation system for one week, seems to work! I like schedules, they make life easier :) On Thursday and Friday I stitched for exchanges, so I can't show photos. Yesterday was a good stitching day and I stitched Come Tarry, which I plan to alternate with L&L Angel of Spring. So here's a photo of Come Tarry. I love the verse in it: "Come Tarry here, on this sweet earth, and in her heart, joyful be".

Then couple of finishes from January too, I finished these just after the New Year, but haven't had time to post photos. The first one is the first ornament from Shepherd's Bush 2000 years ago and I plan to stitch all four before Christmas 2007. The second one is Spot of Winter from The Drawn Thread. Well, it really is winter at the moment in Finland, -20C (-4F).

Today is for stitching St Hippolyte and I will start at once after posting this :)

*****

Kiitos kovasti paljon tyynykommenteista!

Shepherd's Bushin Come Tarry on tuo ensimmäinen, se on minusta kaunis malli ja runonpätkä myös ihana: "Come Tarry here, on this sweet earth, and in her heart, joyful be". Vuorottelen sitä näillä näkymin lauantaisin L&L:n Angel of Spring -työn kanssa. Ehkä Châtelainen Samplerin laitan vielä samalle päivälle.

Kaksi muuta kuvaa ovat muita tammikuun valmiita juttuja. Eka on Shepherd's Bushin joulukoriste sarjasta 2000 years ago ja toinen The Drawn Threadin Spot of Winter.

Coeur Musique finished! - Tyyny valmis jipii!

This is what I sew last night. I finished stitching this Savoir-Faire Vailly design in the end of last year and it has been waiting to be finished into a pillow. The fabric is from my own stash and I like the colours in this. I'd love to stitch lots of these heart designs and finish them into pillows!

Anyway, even though the design isn't too big, the pillow turned out quite big, size of the pillow is 33 x 33 cm (13" x 13").

*****

Winnie the Pooh - Nalle Puh

I did it :) This has been somewhere in the basket for SO long and I almost didn't even try to find it yesterday. But I found it and even put couple of stitches in it. I like Winnie the Pooh and I like stitching, but I just don't like stitching Winnie the Pooh. But if I stitch this every Tuesday, I will eventually get it done, so I will continue.

I have no idea why I have stitched like that, at first Eeyore and part of Piglet and then suddenly ice on the left? Maybe that was the center of the design and I started there. Anyway, I will now continue and finish the tree behind Eeyore and then backstitch Eeyore etc.

Today is the finishing Wednesday, for exchanges and Violarium, we'll see if I can actually get something finished!

*****

A spring bag - Kevätkassi

Ok, Monday is for stitching exchanges or for Violarium. So yesterday evening I continued stitching Petits ABC Country, from Savoir-Faire Vailly. I use waste canvas and I stitch on denim. This will be a small spring bag when finished. I have changed all the colours in the chart, as I wanted to try DMC linen threads for this. I like these soft tones!

Tonight I should continue the Winnie the Pooh design... :)

*****

Nojuu, maanantaina pistellään siis vaihtoihin tai Violariumin töitä. Eilen jatkoin tätä Savoir-Faire Vaillyn mallia Petits ABC Country. Teen tätä waste canvasin avulla farkkukankaalle ja siitä tulee pieni kevätkassi, kunhan pistelyt on valmiit. Olen vaihtanut kaikki värit, koska halusin kokeilla DMC:n pellavamuliinilankoja.

One more ornament - Vieläkin joulukoriste :)

Thank you for your comments! It's great to read them and to know that people are reading this blog :)

Oh and yet another photo of a Christmas ornament :) I just love Christmas. This is the last one, I promise. I stitched couple of these for friends, with slight variations. The design is from an old De fil en aiguille magazine (the link will open to Violarium).

I've been giving lots of thoughts to rotation last night. I even wrote down a first version and I think I'll try that. It's not final yet, but at least I will be stitching St Hippolyte on Sundays, as it's when I usually have time to stitch. On Saturdays it's time to alternate Come Tarry and Angel of Spring, as I want to finish them, but there's no deadline for these. Friday night is for relaxing, so I'll stitch whatever I want to. Probably something small just for fun.

Weekdays are more complicated and I've not made a schedule yet. I have an old Winnie the Pooh design that I don't like to stitch at all, but I really would like to finish that finally for my godson for Christmas 2007. So maybe that one for Tuesdays. I'd love to stitch something for my 3-year old goddaughter as well, so maybe Tuesday is for godchildren :)

I will have to think of this tonight, so I can start the rotation. I'm actually very excited about this, is it crazy? :)

*****

Kiitokset kommenteista! Joulukoristeet on kyllä ihania, voihan niitä pistellä ympäri vuoden ihan hyvin. Nimettömälle kommentoijalle pitää sanoa, että ristipistojen tekeminen on TOSI helppoa, kannattaa kokeilla :)

Vielä viimeinen joulukoriste ja sitten saa riittää joulukoristeet, johan Nuutin päiväkin meni :) Näitä tein pari ystäville, vähän erilaisia, mutta samalla tyylillä. Mallit on otettu vanhasta De fil en aiguille -lehdestä (linkki aukeaa Violariumiin).

Eilisilta meni miettiessä vuorottelusysteemiä ja hahmottelin jonkinlaista järjestystä jo. Sunnuntaina St Hippolyte, koska yleensä sunnuntaina ehdin pistellä rauhassa kunnolla. Lauantaina voisivat vuorotella Come Tarry ja Angel of Spring, koska molemmat haluan saada valmiiksi, mutta niillä ei kuitenkaan ole kamala kiire.

Perjantai-ilta on varattu huilimiselle, eli silloin voisi pistellä mitä vaan huvittaa. Luultavasti jotain pientä ihan vaan omaksi iloksi.

More photos - Vielä joulukuvia ja muuta höpinää

Thank you for your comments! And Happy New Year, I think I've forgot to wish that :) I guess I should make a resolution to update my blog more often and to comment on other blogs more often too! I really enjoy reading your blogs and I'm so sorry I'm again behind in reading and commenting. Mañana, mañana... :)

Outi, if I remember correctly, the bowl is made from one piece of fabric. It's a round piece with various sectors removed and then the edges are sewn together. Hard to explain as I've never made one myself and I'm not sure of the technique either :)

I caught a cold, but fortunately I feel better already, so I've started working (and stitching!) again. Hopefully soon I'll have more time to stitch! I've been planning to rotate my WIPs this year, as I just love organization and order and harmony :) Any tips for that, anyone?

Here's couple of photos of Christmas gifts I stitched, the ornaments above are for Maria and Ritva.

For Maria I stitched Folk Art Topiary (Brown House Studio) from JCS Ornaments issue 2004. As a backing fabric I used the same fabric as for the heart ornament for Leena. The design for Ritva's ornament is Lizzie Kate January Blocks Flip-It. I changed some thread colours in both of them. I made Folk Art Topiary more "Christmassy", as I didn't like the original colours.

At the moment I'm stitching something secret for couple of exchanges. I also have couple of designs to finish for Violarium, hopefully before the craft trade show in Oulu (in February). I have not forgot the Pay It Forward challenge, it just takes some time :)

*****

Ihanaa tätä vuotta! Olen tainnut unohtaa toivotella...

Marian koriste on JCS Christmas Ornaments 2004 lehdestä, Folk Art Topiary (Brown House Studio). Ritvan koriste on Lizzie Katen January Blocks Flip-It.

I realized that it's a good break (while working) to update a blog :) So I will eventually try to upload all the photos of my Christmas stitching here. This is the ornament I stitched for Leena in the Finnish Yahoo group Christmas exchange. It is from JCS Ornaments 2005 issue, designed by Cross-Eyed Cricket. I changed the colour of the heart though and didn't make the wings, as in the original design.

*****

Tämän lähetin Leenalle ristipistolistan jouluswapissa. Malli on Just Cross Stitch Christmas Ornaments -lehdestä vuodelta 2005, suunnittelija Cross-Eyed Cricket. Vaihdoin tosin langan toiseksi enkä tehnyt sydämelle siipiä, niinkuin alkuperäisessä mallissa. Jotenkin ne näyttivät minusta aika hassuilta :)

More Christmas gifts - Joululahjoja edelleen

This lovely bowl is made entirely of fabric, isn't it a beauty? My stitching friend Ritva sew this for me, I love it :) I knew at once how to use it - I keep the supplies for my current cross stitch projects in it. Thank you so much Ritva for this wonderful Christmas gift!

*****

Tuhannet kiitokset Ritva ihanasta joululahjasta!
