Pumpkin Patch for Brigitte and a birthday gift - Kurpitsavaihto ja synttärilahja

The Prairie Schooler: Autumn Leaves (part of the design)
Stitched on 30 count black linen with DMC threads

Brigitte in Germany has received the Pumpkin Patch exchange, I stitched her this ornament. The pumpkin is part of The Prairie Schooler Autumn Leaves design and for the backing I used the cotton fabric in the photo. I wanted to add something bright into this ornament, so I used the ribbon I received from Becky K. in an exchange earlier this autumn :) I love this Prairie Schooler design and I definitely want to stitch the whole design one day. The poem is my favourite: "Come said the wind to the leaves one day... Come o'er the meadows and we will play..." :)

Pirjo received the belated birthday gift I stitched for her (photos below). Pirjo is a member of our local stitching group and she likes France and French designs too :) So I decided to stitch her this part of a freebie with the text "Amitié" - Friendship. I finished it as a mattress pincushion. The design was published in Marquoir, the magazine of the French cross stitch association, but it was originally available in the Internet, in Sof's Swappons blog. You'll find the design when you click "Be glad" on the left under the title "free" and then go to the second page and scroll down.

Thank you for your lovely comments on the biscornu I stitched! The brown fabric is from Violarium and the rose button is from a Finnish online bead shop :) My stitching neighbour Anne uses these buttons all the time for her biscornus so I've seen they are beautiful! Also in some French Atalie biscornus the Fimo roses are used. Anne writes her blog in Finnish only, but if you scroll down you'll see some of her biscornus. She's the queen of biscornus in our local stitching group, she even has a biscornu counter in her blog :D

*****

Brigitte Saksassa sai SBEBB:n kurpitsavaihtopakettini tällä viikolla, pistelin hänelle tuollaisen kurpitsakoristeen. Käytin taustalla kuvan puuvillakangasta ja halusin lisätä koristeeseen jotain pirteää, niinpä laitoin iloisen oranssin ripustusnauhan, sain sitä rullan vaihdossa aiemmin tänä syksynä. Tykkään kovasti tuosta Prairie Schoolerin mallista, siinä on niin ihana runokin, joskus pitää itselle pistellä koko malli.

Alapuolella kuvia Pirjon synttärilahjasta, jonka sain vihdoin viimein viikonloppuna valmiiksi.

Kiitos ihanista biscornukommenteista! Kangas on 30 count pellavaa Violariumista ja ruusu tosiaankin Helmiq:sta. Naapurin Annehan on tehtaillut biscornuja pilvin pimein ja on käyttänyt näitä samoja ruusuja keskellä, sain inspiraatiota siis tien toiselta puolelta :) Myös joissakin ranskalaisissa Atalien biscornuissa on käytetty samanlaisia Fimo-ruusuja. Anne on muuten oupsilaisten biscornukuningatar ja hänen blogissaan on jopa biscornulaskuri :D

Hi Leena,

Your stitching is gorgeous! I would love to see you stitch the PS with the poem. It sounds very sweet. And I love the mattress pincushion - the colours you used, the linen and the finishing! I'm sure you've made the recipients very happy!

Two very nice finishes. I have stitched this little pumpkin also. I love PS designs as so many of the small themes from larger samplers can be used seperately as ornaments. I love the edge trimming on the "Be Gald" design.
Do you take Violarium "shop" to craft fairs? I wish you could come here to the US. I was lucky to be invited into a craft fair today...very short notice as I only was contacted last night, but I did make a little money and had a lot of fun.

I love the pumpkin fob - that's so cute! And the mattress pincushion for Pirjo is divine! If you're happy to share your secrets (I know you usually are ;) ) I'd love to know how you did the ribbon border, it's really lovely.
