Mattress Pincushion for Amy - Make A Wish -vaihto Amylle

I heard on Friday that Amy has received this mattress pincushion I made for her in Make a Wish Exchange. Amy wished for a mattress pincushion with themes like flowers, gardening, white picket fence, birds etc. I found this chart in Italy in July and thought it will be perfect :) On the other side I added Amy's initials and on the other I stitched a mirror image of the flower and fence. I'm happy you like it Amy, it was the first mattress pincushion I've stitched and I enjoyed stitching it for you!

We had such a wonderful day yesterday! Tuula invited our local stitching group to stitch for the whole day and we had so much fun! Tuula is a special person, a wonderful stitcher and friend, thank you Tuula for everything and thank you everyone else for the best company ever :)

PS. Just to clarify as someone asked, anyone may participate in my ornament give-away. I send lots of mail abroad every day, so I'll be happy to mail the ornament to the winner also abroad, no matter where you live :)

Amy on perjantaina saanut vaihdon jonka hänelle lähetin. Hän toivoi mattress pincushion -neulatyynyä Make A Wish -vaihdossa, esimerkiksi puutarha-, lintu-, aita- tai kukka-aiheella. Löysin tämän mallin Italiasta kesällä ja se näytti täydelliseltä :) Mikähän olisi kiva suomalainen sana tuolle mattress pincushionille, patjamainen neulatyynyhän se on, mutta kuulostaa vähän kankealta. Ehdotuksia?

Pistelin vain osa mallista, lisäsin toiselle puolelle Amyn nimikirjaimet ja toisella puolella vaihdoin aidan ja kukan paikkaa. Tämä oli eka mattress pincushion -tyylinen viimeistely jonka tein, sitä oli hauska pistellä!

Oi että meillä oli ihana päivä eilen! Tuula kutsui oupsilaiset kylään ja kaksi autolastillista meitä lähtikin sinne pistelemään koko päiväksi. Tuula on hurjan ihana ystävä, niin aurinkoinen ihminen :) Kiitos Tuula kaikesta kovasti ja kiitos myös muille oupsilaisille pistely- ja matkaseurasta, olette ihania kaikki!

This is what I stitched in our mini-SAL with Stephanie last month and I've now finished it into a hanging pillow ornament. I feel so joyful today that I want to give this away :) On Monday it will be September and I just ♥ LOVE ♥ September and autumn in general, this is the best time of the year, from now on until Christmas!

We have such a windy weather today and I just couldn't get a good photo of the ornament hanging, so the photo is not perfect, I'm sorry. Ihana syksyinen päivä, meillä tuulee ja aurinkokin paistaa ja maanantaina alkaa syyskuu! Minä ♥ RAKASTAN ♥ syyskuuta ja syksyä, vuoden paras aika on mielestäni tästä Jouluun :) Perjantaiarvontaa en sentään lupaa ottaa tavakseni, mutta tänä perjantaina järkkään arvonnan :) Pistelin tämän mallin viime kuussa, mutta viimeistelin sen vasta nyt tällaiseksi roikkuvaksi tyynyksi. Kuva ei ole älyttömän hyvä, kun en saanut hyvää kuvaa koristeesta roikkumassa, tuuli liikaa...

Alkavan syyskuun kunniaksi arvon tämän koristeen kaikkien tähän kirjoitukseen kommentoineiden kesken. Kaikki saavat osallistua, eka kertaa blogissani vierailevat tai vanhat lukijat. Jättäkää joku yhteystieto (linkki blogiin tai sähköpostiosoite), varsinkin jos emme ole vielä tuttuja, niin osaan ilmoittaa voitosta. Arvon voittajan synttäripäivänäni, sunnuntaina 7. syyskuuta :)

I organized an autumn exchange for Finnish stitchers in my exchange blog and yesterday I received these lovely chanterelles from Katri! I love the yellow colour in it, they look so autumnal :) Katri also sent me a pretty card, colourful paper napkins, a beautiful cross stitch kit and a cute heart key chain. It was a great surprise!

Sain Katrilta syksyvaihdon eilen! Ihanan pirteitä kanttarelleja löytyi paketista :) Tosi kauniin pistelyn Katri oli tehnyt, tuo keltainen on just oikea syksyn väri. Katri lähetti myös syksyisen kortin ja lautasliinoja, suloisen ristipistopakkauksen ja ihanan sydänavaimenperän! Oli kiva yllätys tämä vaihto postilaatikossa, kiitos Katri hurjasti!

Omaa vaihtoani vielä viimeistelen, mutta vielähän tässä on aikaa maanantaihin :) Jouluvaihtoon on jo yli 30 ilmoittautunutta, vau, mahtavaa!

Thank you Mari!! - Kiitos Mari!!

It's almost midnight and I'm half asleep, but I just have to show you these :) Mari knitted these for me, she wanted to thank me for helping her and her family when they were moving in the beginning of the summer. I think these are gorgeous!! The colours are perfect and she did wonderful job with these. I LOVE socks and mittens knitted by hand and Mari is such a talented knitter. I don't know what to say, it was such a wonderful surprise to receive these yesterday from Mari. Now I only wait for days to get colder, so that I can start wearing the mittens :) I'm already wearing the socks of course :)

Melkein on jo nukkumaanmenoaika, mutta pakko näyttää nämä vielä tänään :) Sain näin ihanan yllätyksen Marilta kiitokseksi alkukesän muuttoavusta, eivätkö ole ihanat!! Täydelliset värit ja ihanat mallit, tykkään ihan hurjasti. RAKASTAN käsintehtyjä sukkia ja lapasia, aina olen yhtä hämmästynyt ja ilahtunut, jos saan jotain kudottua, nojoo, neulottua siis :) Oli tosi ihana yllätys saada tällaiset, Mari on tosi taitava kutoja (neuloja?) :) Kiitos ihan älyttömästi!! Nyt saa alkaa odotella että ilmat kylmenevät ja voi pitää lapasia, sukat on käytössä unisukkina tietysti jo :)

I almost forgot :) Well, I actually did forget, thank you Mari for reminding me! Today's blog is Cindy's Stitching Corner. She has just changed the layout in her blog, but the main reason for choosing Cindy's blog is her Etsy shop and wonderful purses :) I've purchased couple of purses from her and it has been my intention to blog about them... I use my purses all the time, for my camera and cards and coins, they are perfect for these! Cindy does WONDERFUL job with the sewing machine, her purses are so beautiful and neatly done! If you check Cindy's older posts, you'll find a gorgeous redwork exchange (another purse) she made.

Cindyllä on kiva, uusi ulkoasu blogissa, mutta Cindyn ihanat pussukat ovat pääsyy tähän valintaan. Cindy myy tekemiään pussukoita Etsyssä, olen niitä pari ostanut itselleni ja tarkoitus on ollut kuvata ne ja kirjoittaa blogiin... Käytän pussukoita koko ajan kameran suojana ja lompakkona, ne ovat just sopivan kokoisia noihin tarkoituksiin. Cindy osaa tosissaan ommella siististi, pussukat ovat tosi ihania! Jos selaatte vanhempia kirjoituksia tuolta blogista, niin sieltä löytyy ihana redwork exchange -pussukka myös.

Pinkeep for Carol - Carolille lahja

Carol has received my gift, I wrote to her that it's not a late birthday gift but a "just because" gift in time, LOL. Unfortunately I really can't keep up with birthdays nowadays, so I try to send some gifts when I can :) Carol has such a lovely blog and a warm heart, so I wanted to give her a heart :) I've finished this as a pinkeep and if you're interested, I've made a tutorial (at Violarium's site) for making a heart shaped pinkeep a long time ago. The same technique can of course be used in making other shapes too.

I've received many inquieries by e-mail about the scissorcase / scissorfob my mum made for me :) Most of you have wanted to know how she made the shape, is it a rectangle, triangle or what. I've asked my mum and she mainly did the product development while stitching :) So she doesn't have any specific instructions to give, but she told me how she found the shape. She had a piece of paper and started folding it, I've taken couple of photos to show you the basics :)

For my scissor case she made a lining of linen fabric too, but she says it has to be a bit smaller than the outside. Also she used some iron-on interfacing in between the two linen fabrics, so that the scissorcase is more firm. Then she explained about stitching those back stitches etc. but I can't remember even half of what she said :) So I'm sorry I don't have more exact instructions! If you begin to make one and have questions, please send me an e-mail and I'll ask my mum again about the back stitches.

It's Friday yippee! No rain today, we've had a very rainy weather during the last weeks. I posted my SBEBB biscornu exchange today and I'll also post a Make a Wish exchange this weekend. Then I have couple of other wonderful exchanges to finish, where did all these exchanges come from...? :) Have a happy weekend everyone and happy stitching :)

Carol on saanut lahjan, jonka tein ihan muuten vaan :) Sanoin, että se ei olen myöhässä oleva synttärilahja, vaan ihan ajoissa oleva "muuten vaan" -lahja. Lähetän lahjoja silloin kun voin, en mitenkään pysy kärryillä kaikkien ihanien ihmisten synttäreissä... Carolilla on ihana blogi ja lämmin sydän, niinpä tein sydämen :) Violariumin sivuilla on ohje tällaisen sydämenmuotoisen neulavahdin tekemiseen, samaahan voi tietty soveltaa mihin tahansa muotoon.

Monet ovat kyselleet sähköpostilla äidin tekemästä saksikotelokoristesysteemistä. Lähinnä sitä, minkä muotoinen kappale alunperin on. Äiti kehitteli koteloa samalla kun teki sitä, niin että mitään ohjetta siihen ei ole olemassa. Muoto syntyi paperia käsissä pyörittelemällä, nappasin pari kuvaa äidin selostuksen mukaan. Vuorikappalekin on pellavasta, välissä tukikangasta. Äiti selitti kyllä jälkipistojen tekemisestä ja muusta, mutta en muista puoliakaan :) Niin että tarkempia ohjeita ei valitettavasti ole tällä hetkellä ainakaan tarjota. Jos joku aloittaa tekemään tuollaista ja tarvitsee lisäohjeita matkan varrella, niin lähettäkää postia ja kysyn äidiltä lisää.

Taas on perjantai, jipii! Eikä edes ole satanut koko päivänä, pitkästä aikaa! Mantelikaan ei ole halunnut mennä vesisateeseen ulos, mutta tänään on ulkoiltu enemmän :) Sain postiin SBEBB:n biscornuvaihdon tänään ja nyt on muutama muu vaihto viimeistelemättä. Mistäkähän nämä kaikki vaihdot oikein ilmestyivät...? :) Oikein ihanaa viikonloppua jokaiselle ja pistelyniloa :)

In the spring I stitched La-D-Da's Jasmine's Star and wrote to my blog how much I've fallen in love with La-D-Da's designs. Melissa from Canada (she doesn't have a blog) sent me a lovely e-mail, offering to send me couple of La-D-Da charts she doesn't need. That was such a kind thing to do, I was so surprised and happy of course! She sent me also couple of surprises and a wonderful letter, as she also loves handwritten, snail mail letters :)

Melissa absolutely didn't want anything in exchange, so I asked her permission to stitch her something :) She has received this pinkeep now and I was so happy to hear that she likes it. I knew at once what to stitch for her, as she asked about pinkeeps in her letter. I wanted to take a small part of each design she sent me and below the photo you can see the different parts. It was such a pleasure to plan and stitch this for you Melissa, thank you so much for everything!

The fabric is dyed by a friend of mine who attended a fabric dyeing course and she kindly dyed some linens for me too. This was 30 count when I gave it to her, but after the dyeing process the count is higher, I haven't counted the threads though. I love this colour!

Thank you for your lovely comments on my recent finishes! Life has been quite busy recently and your comments make my days :) I've couple of exchanges to finish today when evening (and my stitching time) comes, fortunately they are almost finished, so there's no panic, at least not just yet :) Happy Thursday everyone and happy stitching!

Loppukeväästä pistelin La-D-Dan Jasmine's Star -mallin ja kirjoitin samalla blogiin miten olen ihastunut La-D-Dan malleihin. Sen jälkeen sain ihanaa sähköpostia Melissalta Kanadasta (hänellä ei ole blogia) ja hän halusi lähettää minulle pari La-D-Dan mallia, joita hän ei tarvitse enää. Olin iloinen ja tosi yllättynyt, mahtava yllätys tuollainen! Hän lähetti pari ylimääräistä malliakin ja ihanan kirjeen, hän on myös perinteisten kirjeiden ystävä :)

Melissa ei missään nimessä halunnut mitään vaihdossa, mutta pyysin saada pistellä hänelle jotain. Tämä neulavahti on mennyt perille nyt ja oli kiva kuulla että värit ja kuviot miellyttivät. Tiesin heti, että neulavahti pitää pistellä, koska hän kyseli kirjeessään niistä lisätietoa. Halusin ottaa pienen osan jokaisesta mallista jonka hän lähetti, kuvien alla on lista malleista.

Tuon ihanan ruskean kankaan on värjännyt ystäväni, joka kävi kankaanvärjäyskurssilla ja ystävällisesti värjäsi minullekin pellavia, eikös olekin ihana väri! Kangas oli minulta lähtiessä 30 count, mutta on nyt tiheämpää värjäysprosessin jälkeen. En ole laskenut lankoja, niin että en tiedä tarkkaa tiheyttä.

What a wonderful mail day yesterday! I received two exchanges, yippee :) The gorgeous box above is from Carolyn, she granted my wish at Make A Wish exchange board. I wished for any autumn design and asked for any finish and she sent me this wonderful box! Oh I love the design and I love the box and Carolyn's stitching and finishing is perfect :) The lining fabric is so lovely too, I'm sorry for the shadow in the photo. I love autumn designs, they are my favourite. Thank you from the bottom of my heart dear Carolyn, this is a wonderful exchange!!

Below the cute biscornu (Biscornu exchange at SBEBB) I received from Jean :) I've been admiring this design and I think it's so colourful and lovely, it was a perfect choice Jean! I love these bright colours, they bring joy to normal days :) Thank you so much Jean, it's a great biscornu and I love it! Jean also sent me lots of extras, two charts (the Lighthouse was in my wishlist), beautiful threads in my colours and some tea. Thank you for this package, I love everything :)

Eilinen oli tosi hyvä postipäivä, sain kaksi vaihtoa samana päivänä! Carolyn teki tuon ihanan laatikon, toivoin Make A Wish -vaihdossa mitä tahansa syksymallia viimeisteltynä miten tahansa. Sain tuollaisen ihanuuden! Tosi siististi ja kauniisti viimeistelty ja sisällä käytetty kangaskin on niin nätti. Rakastan syksymalleja ja kurpitsoja. Kuvassa on vaan vähän voimakas varjo, suonette anteeksi :)

Toisen vaihdon sain Jeanilta, SBEBB:n biscornuvaihdossa. Olen tuota mallia ihaillutkin, se on niin ihanan värikäs ja iloinen :) Tykkään pirteistä väreistäkin, ne tuovat iloa jokaiseen päivään. Biscornun mukana sain kaksi mallia, ihania lankoja ja teetä. Tuo majakkamalli onkin ollut toivelistallani, siinä on jotain hauskaa :) Ihana vaihto tämäkin, tällaiset postipäivät ovat kyllä huippuja!

Villasukka has received my gift, so here's the photo. I love reading her blog and wanted to give her something because of that. I read almost exclusively cross stitch blogs, but her blog makes an exception. She has a knitting blog and she does beautiful work. But she also has two cute kitties and that's the main reason why I enjoy reading her blog so much :) She describes the adventures of these cats very lively and warmly and I often report them forward to my family :)

So I made her this ornament / pincushion and wrote a poem too. I was so happy to hear that she likes this gift!

Je pense que je dois écrire en francais aujourd'hui, parce que la destinataire de ce cadeau parle (et enseigne!) francais et elle a écrit une fois qu'elle aime bien lire mes murmures en francais :) Villasukka a un blog et j'adore le lire, elle tricote et elle a deux chatons irrésistibles! Elle ecrit chaleureusement et raconte des bêtises des chatons et je les raconte souvent en avant pour ma famille :)

Donc j'ai fait ce petit cadeau et j'ai écrit un petit poème aussi. Je suis tellement contente qu'elle les aime bien :)

PS. J'adore cette couleur de Pomme de Pin fil, Ecureuil en pyjama. J'adore le nom aussi, quel drôle de nom! Nous avons beaucoup d'écureuils dans la fòret et toujours quand je brode avec ce fil, je les vois sauter en pyjamas... :)

Villasukalle meni lahja perille, niinpä tässä kuva. Villasukan blogi on yksi niistä harvoista neuleblogeista joita luen ristipistoblogien lisäksi. Neuleet ovat ihania tietysti, mutta blogissa seikkailee kaksi suloista kissaa, joiden tempauksia kerron usein eteenpäin koko perheelle :) Niinpä halusin kiittää ihanasta blogista ja tein tällaisen pienen koristeen / neulatyynyn / roikkuvan jutun, jossa tietysti on kissa :) Hui kun melkein kunnolla jännitin että mitä saaja tästä ja mukaan kirjoitetusta runosta tykkää, kun blogien kautta ainoastaan tunnemme toisemme. Ihana että oli mieluinen!

Cat-O-Lantern for my daughter - Synttärilahja tyttärelle

Thank you for your lovely comments on Come Tarry! It's such a beautiful design, I like Shepherd's Bush designs a lot and I think Come Tarry might be my favourite. Besides, it has a special meaning to me, as I've received the kit as a gift from a wonderful stitcher in the USA, who was my "adopter" in an Adopt-A-Stitcher program years ago. In fact I've been very worried about her lately, as I know she had some problems with her health and I haven't heard from her for some time now... I certainly hope all is well with her!

My daughter had her birthday and I wanted to give her a stitched gift too. She's a teenager and doesn't stitch much at the moment, but she likes everything stitched and is always interested in what I'm stitching :) She fell in love with this Bent Creek design when I received it from Leena as a birthday gift last September. My daughter loves cats as much as I do and this is such a cute design! I didn't stitch the text (Cat-O-Lantern) as in the model and changed some threads. I finished this as a hanging ornament as my daughter has lots of things hanging in her room and she likes them :) You can see the backing fabric as a frame in the photo. I received this cute fabric in an exchange from Wanda earlier this year and I think it was perfect for this ornament.

It's a warm, sunny Sunday here and I'll continue stitching my Christmas ornaments now :) Have a very happy Sunday!

Kiitos Come Tarry -kommenteista! Se on ihana malli, yksi lemppareistani Shepherd's Bushilta. Tuo työ on muutenkin tärkeä tapaus, sain sen vuosia sitten lahjaksi "ristipistokummitädiltäni", joksi hänet suomeksi nimesin. Olin mukana sellaisessa "Adopt-A-Stitcher" -jutussa ja minut "adoptoi" eräs ihana amerikkalainen pistelijä. Itse asiassa olen viime aikoina ollut kovasti hänestä huolissani, hän nimittäin sairasteli vakavasti enkä ole kuullut hänestä mitään pitkään aikaan... Toivon mukaan siellä kuitenkin on kaikki ok.

Meidän teini-ikäisellä neidillä oli synttärit ja halusin jotain pistellä tietty myös. Tyttö tykkää kaikesta pistellystä ja on aika hyvin ajan tasalla mitä vaihtoa milloinkin pistelen, vaikka ei itse pistelekään tällä hetkellä juuri ollenkaan :) Kissafanina neiti ihastui tähän Bent Creekin Cat-O-Lantern -malliin kun sain sen viime syksynä synttärilahjaksi kaimalta. Jätin mallista pois tekstin ja vaihdoin pari lankaa. Viimeistelin roikkuvaksi koristeeksi, kun neidistä on kiva roikottaa kaikenlaista huoneessaan :) Taustakangas näkyy kuvassa kehyksenä, sen sain Wandalta vaihdossa aikaisemmin tänä vuonna ja se passaa sekä malliin että tytön värimaailmaan.

Ihana, lämmin, aurinkoinen sunnuntai meillä täällä, painun jatkamaan joulukoristeiden pistelyä! Vaihtoblogiin lisäsin jouluvaihdon tiedot ilmoittautumista varten, pianhan on joulukuu... :) Ihanaa sunnuntai-iltaa!
