Villasukka has received my gift, so here's the photo. I love reading her blog and wanted to give her something because of that. I read almost exclusively cross stitch blogs, but her blog makes an exception. She has a knitting blog and she does beautiful work. But she also has two cute kitties and that's the main reason why I enjoy reading her blog so much :) She describes the adventures of these cats very lively and warmly and I often report them forward to my family :)

So I made her this ornament / pincushion and wrote a poem too. I was so happy to hear that she likes this gift!

Je pense que je dois écrire en francais aujourd'hui, parce que la destinataire de ce cadeau parle (et enseigne!) francais et elle a écrit une fois qu'elle aime bien lire mes murmures en francais :) Villasukka a un blog et j'adore le lire, elle tricote et elle a deux chatons irrésistibles! Elle ecrit chaleureusement et raconte des bêtises des chatons et je les raconte souvent en avant pour ma famille :)

Donc j'ai fait ce petit cadeau et j'ai écrit un petit poème aussi. Je suis tellement contente qu'elle les aime bien :)

PS. J'adore cette couleur de Pomme de Pin fil, Ecureuil en pyjama. J'adore le nom aussi, quel drôle de nom! Nous avons beaucoup d'écureuils dans la fòret et toujours quand je brode avec ce fil, je les vois sauter en pyjamas... :)

Villasukalle meni lahja perille, niinpä tässä kuva. Villasukan blogi on yksi niistä harvoista neuleblogeista joita luen ristipistoblogien lisäksi. Neuleet ovat ihania tietysti, mutta blogissa seikkailee kaksi suloista kissaa, joiden tempauksia kerron usein eteenpäin koko perheelle :) Niinpä halusin kiittää ihanasta blogista ja tein tällaisen pienen koristeen / neulatyynyn / roikkuvan jutun, jossa tietysti on kissa :) Hui kun melkein kunnolla jännitin että mitä saaja tästä ja mukaan kirjoitetusta runosta tykkää, kun blogien kautta ainoastaan tunnemme toisemme. Ihana että oli mieluinen!

Cat-O-Lantern for my daughter - Synttärilahja tyttärelle

Thank you for your lovely comments on Come Tarry! It's such a beautiful design, I like Shepherd's Bush designs a lot and I think Come Tarry might be my favourite. Besides, it has a special meaning to me, as I've received the kit as a gift from a wonderful stitcher in the USA, who was my "adopter" in an Adopt-A-Stitcher program years ago. In fact I've been very worried about her lately, as I know she had some problems with her health and I haven't heard from her for some time now... I certainly hope all is well with her!

My daughter had her birthday and I wanted to give her a stitched gift too. She's a teenager and doesn't stitch much at the moment, but she likes everything stitched and is always interested in what I'm stitching :) She fell in love with this Bent Creek design when I received it from Leena as a birthday gift last September. My daughter loves cats as much as I do and this is such a cute design! I didn't stitch the text (Cat-O-Lantern) as in the model and changed some threads. I finished this as a hanging ornament as my daughter has lots of things hanging in her room and she likes them :) You can see the backing fabric as a frame in the photo. I received this cute fabric in an exchange from Wanda earlier this year and I think it was perfect for this ornament.

It's a warm, sunny Sunday here and I'll continue stitching my Christmas ornaments now :) Have a very happy Sunday!

Kiitos Come Tarry -kommenteista! Se on ihana malli, yksi lemppareistani Shepherd's Bushilta. Tuo työ on muutenkin tärkeä tapaus, sain sen vuosia sitten lahjaksi "ristipistokummitädiltäni", joksi hänet suomeksi nimesin. Olin mukana sellaisessa "Adopt-A-Stitcher" -jutussa ja minut "adoptoi" eräs ihana amerikkalainen pistelijä. Itse asiassa olen viime aikoina ollut kovasti hänestä huolissani, hän nimittäin sairasteli vakavasti enkä ole kuullut hänestä mitään pitkään aikaan... Toivon mukaan siellä kuitenkin on kaikki ok.

Meidän teini-ikäisellä neidillä oli synttärit ja halusin jotain pistellä tietty myös. Tyttö tykkää kaikesta pistellystä ja on aika hyvin ajan tasalla mitä vaihtoa milloinkin pistelen, vaikka ei itse pistelekään tällä hetkellä juuri ollenkaan :) Kissafanina neiti ihastui tähän Bent Creekin Cat-O-Lantern -malliin kun sain sen viime syksynä synttärilahjaksi kaimalta. Jätin mallista pois tekstin ja vaihdoin pari lankaa. Viimeistelin roikkuvaksi koristeeksi, kun neidistä on kiva roikottaa kaikenlaista huoneessaan :) Taustakangas näkyy kuvassa kehyksenä, sen sain Wandalta vaihdossa aikaisemmin tänä vuonna ja se passaa sekä malliin että tytön värimaailmaan.

Ihana, lämmin, aurinkoinen sunnuntai meillä täällä, painun jatkamaan joulukoristeiden pistelyä! Vaihtoblogiin lisäsin jouluvaihdon tiedot ilmoittautumista varten, pianhan on joulukuu... :) Ihanaa sunnuntai-iltaa!

Come Tarry + Friday's blog - Perjantaiblogi

I decided to take a photo of Come Tarry, I've completed the sheep during the summer. Not much progress, but I love stitching this whenever I have time. This is designed by Shepherd's Bush of course and I really, really love this :)

It's Friday again, yippee! As it's Friday, here's today's blog: Carol's Garden of Stitches. I'm sure almost all of my English speaking readers are already familiar with Carol's blog, but I thought that not all my Finnish speaking readers are, so I'll introduce it :) Carol updates her blog every day and I so much enjoy reading it, she stitches such wonderful pieces! In the latest post there's a beautiful photo of her cat Beau, so that's why I chose her blog today :)

Otinpa kuvan Come Tarrysta, kun olen kesän aikana saanut sentään tehtyä loput lampaat :) Ei ihan kamalan hurjaa vauhtia ole tämä työ edistynyt, mutta sitä on ihana pistellä aina silloin kun on aikaa. Malli on Shepherd's Bushin ja tykkään tästä ihan älyttömästi.

Jipii, taas on perjantai! Perjantaiblogina tänään Carolin Garden of Stitches -blogi. Monille varmasti on jo tuttu blogi, mutta jos ette ole koskaan käyneet, niin käykää ihmeessä! Windows of Joy

I managed to finish stitching this ornament tonight, but it's too late for finishing finishing it now :) The photo is terrible as I just took it and it's almost midnight, so no light. I even managed to take a somehow twisted photo, in reality it's perfectly straight :)

Anyway, as it will be our mini-SAL weekend with Stephanie, I wanted to finish my last month's ornament before Friday. I didn't do very well last month in our SAL, so I plan to stitch and finish two ornaments this weekend.

This design is Windows of Joy by Liz Gorski of Primrose Needleworks and it was published in The Gift of Stitching magazine last year (December 2007). I stitched it on 32 count Belfast Vintage Country Mocha linen with DMC threads. I changed the threads a bit (used 115 for the red etc.) and added the buttons.

Tämän koristeen pistelin loppuun tänä iltana, mutta viimeistely saa jäädä odottamaan pirteämpää hetkeä :) Kuva on ihan kamala kun nappasin sen just ja on melkein puoliyö, eli ei kunnon valoa. Sain otettua vielä ihan kieron kuvan, oikeasti koriste on kyllä suorassa :)

Joka tapauksessa, tulevana viikonloppuna meillä on taas Stephanien kanssa joulukoriste-SAL ja halusin tämän viime kuun koristeen saada valmiiksi sitä ennen. Viime kuussa ei ollut aikaa pistellä ja yritän ottaa tässä kuussa kiinni ja pistellä ja viimeistellä kaksi koristetta.

Koristeen malli on Primrose Needleworksin Windows of Joy ja se on julkaistu The Gift of Stitching -nettilehden joulukoristenumerossa viime vuonna (joulukuussa). Pistelin sen 32 count Belfast Vintage Country Mocha -kankaalle DMC:n langoilla. Vaihdoin vähän lankoja (punainen esimerkiksi on 115) ja lisäsin napit.

Birthday gift for Leena - Kaiman synttärilahja

Oh thank you so much for your lovely comments on my pincushion! It's such a joy to read your comments :) As I sit most of my working time in front of the computer, it's always so wonderful to see another comment and take a tiny break by reading it :)

And another gift :) I noticed we have lots of birthdays during the summertime in our local stitching group! Leena had her birthday last week and I thought she might like this design. Her favourite colour is green and she likes spots and dots, so I made her this pinkeep. The design is Little Brown House Sampler by Heart in Hand and I changed some threads. I was happy to hear it arrived safe and sound and Leena likes it :)

Vieläkin yksi lahja :) Oupsilaisilla onkin tosi paljon synttäreitä kesällä! Birthday gift for Pirjo - Neulatyyny Pirjolle

Another of my weekend finishes arrived to the new home today. Pirjo (no blog) is also a member of our local stitching group and had her birthday in July. She's also a bobbin lace course teacher, so I wanted to include some bobbin lace I've made into my gift for her. I made her this pincushion, as she does lots of handicrafts and also teaches, so I guess she might have use for a pincushion :)

The flower motif is taken from "En Mai..." chart by Les grilles de Maryse and I stitched it with Pomme de Pin and DMC threads. I took photos while making this, so I will make a tutorial to Violarium's site as soon as I have time :)

Toinenkin viikonloppuna valmistunut lahja on löytänyt tiensä uuteen kotiin. Tein tämän neulatyynyn synttärilahjaksi Pirjolle, joka myöskin on oupsilainen :) Pirjo on myös nypläysope ja opettaa muitakin käsitöitä, niin ajattelin että neulatyynylle on aina käyttöä. Nyplättyä pitsiäkin piti tietysti ängetä mukaan :)

Kukkakuvio on Marysen "En Mai..." -mallista. Pistelin sen Pomme de Pinin ja DMC:n langoilla. Otin kuvia tekovaiheessa, niin että teen jossain välissä ohjeen Violariumin sivuille.

Birthday gift - Synttärilahja + Manteli :)

We've had such a beautiful sunny Monday today! It was supposed to rain I guess, but the weather has been lovely, a perfect weather for kids to go back to school after the summer holiday :)

I managed to finish some gifts during the weekend, yippee :) Jaana (no blog) is a member of our local stitching group and had her birthday a month ago... As I've been a bit behind in stitching gifts, she received her gift today. I made her a tiny scissor fob, the motifs are taken from De fil en aiguille Borders and Bands issue. I added some beads for decoration. The fob is stitched with DMC 931, I like this blue shade a lot and I'm happy Jaana likes too :)

We made a radical desicion after pondering for a long time :) We bought a harness for Manteli and decided that she will be taken out. I think it was the right decision, as she enjoyes it so much! She is still a bit afraid of sudden noises and our shadows and well, almost everything that moves :) But she's also very curious and wants to go out. It's so wonderful to take her out and see how she explores the new world :)

Ihana ihana maanantai, aurinko on paistanut koko päivän, vaikka piti kai muka sataa täälläkin. Parikymmentä astetta lämmintä, ihana eka koulupäivä lapsilla!

Sain viikonloppuna valmiiksi useamman lahjan, jee, kiva saada aikaan valmista ja pikkupaketteja postiin :) Kuvassa ensimmäinen niistä, tein sen Jaanalle, oupsilaiselle, jolla oli synttärit tässä kesällä. Mutta olen ollut pikkuisen myöhässä lahjojen pistelyissä ja niinpä Jaana sai saksikoristeensa vasta tänään. Koristeen kuviot on otettu De fil en aiguille -lehden erikoisnumerosta Nauhat ja lisäsin vähän helmiä. Pistelin tämän 30 count pellavalle DMC:n langalla 931, se on yksi lempparisinisistäni ja Jaana näytti tykkäävän siitä myös :)

Meillä tehtiin viikonloppuna radikaali päätös vaatimattomasti vuoden miettimisajan jälkeen :) Mantelille ostettiin valjaat ja kissaneiti vietiin pihalle. Päätös näyttää olevan Mantelille mieluinen, se nauttii ihan ilmiselvästi ulkonaolosta, yllätys yllätys :) Vähän vielä meidän sisäkissaa pelottaa äänet ja ötökät ja varjot ja jos sun vaikka mikä, mutta innoissaan lähtee ulos tutkimaan uutta maailmaa :) Nurmikko tuntuu tassujen alla vähän pöhköltä ja takaterassi on turvapaikka jonne aina sännätään jos joku pelottaa. Ihana seurata tutkimusretkiä!

St Hippolyte + Friday's blog - Perjantaiblogi

It's Friday yippee, I love Fridays :) As I wrote in my goals review, I've completed the large band of St Hippolyte! Fortunately I haven't counted for how long I've been stitching this band, there are lots of stitches in it and it took forever... But it's my favourite band so far, it's so colourful and pretty! Hopefully rest of the bands won't take so long. I've now stitched half of this lovely sampler by Long Dog Samplers and I love every stitch.

I've received some blog awards lately (thank you!) and since I'm not very good in blogging about them (time flies!), I've decided to introduce one blog weekly, every Friday :) These are just lovely stitching blogs I enjoy reading, in random order and hopefully someone will find sometimes a new blog to read like this. At the same time I'll update my blog list in the sidebar, it's not up-to-date at all. I use Google Reader to read and I have hundreds of blogs there, but I still want to have some links in the sidebar. It's a lovely way to find new blogs!

So today's blog is Sari's blog. She's a stitching friend living here in the Oulu area. Her blog looks exactly like her, she's such a lovely person and does wonderful stitching :) She has recently made a beautiful wall hanging of Bent Creek's Redbird Sampler, take a look! She writes also in English, so scroll down :)

Ihana perjantai taasen! Kirjoittelinkin tavoitekatsauksessa, että Hippolyytin iso kukkanauha on valmis jipii! Kyllä se kestikin, paljon siinä on pistoja tietysti, mutta laiskasti olen tehnyt... Tuo on kyllä lempparinauhani tässä merkkaustaulussa, ihanan värikäs. Nyt on työ puolessa, malli on siis Long Dog Samplersin St Hippolyte. Kyllä se siitä joskus valmistuu :)

Kun olen niin huono jatkamaan meemejä ja palkintoja, niin päätin että esittelen joka perjantai jonkun ristipistoblogin :) Netti on täynnä ihania blogeja, ehkä näistä perjantaiblogeista joku silloin tällöin löytää uuden blogin luettavakseen! Nämä tulevat ihan satunnaisessa järjestyksessä sen mukaan kun mieleen juolahtaa, päivitän samalla tuossa sivupalkissa olevaa blogilistausta ajan tasalle. Luen lähes yksinomaan ristipistoblogeja (plus parin ystävän ei-käsityöblogia), muuten ei aika riitä. Ihania neuleblogejakin on maailma pullollaan, mutta muutama sata ristipistoblogia Google Readerissa on tarpeeksi että ehtii ihminen muutakin tehdä :)

Tänään käykää kurkkaamassa Sarin blogia. Sari on oululainen ristipistoystävä ja pitää ihan itsensä näköistä blogia ja tekee ihania töitä :) Nytkin viimeksi OMPELUKONEELLA ompeli aivan ihanan seinälle ripustettavan Bent Creekin Redbird Samplerin.

Make a Wish + gifts - Vaihdantaa

Shelleen stitched me a needleroll in Make a Wish exchange and it arrived this week. Actually she had to stitch two needlerolls, as the first package came back to her without the needleroll! So she kindly stitched and sent another one, I love the design, it's a beautiful autumn design :) Thank you so much Shelleen for granting my wish, you did great job with this!! It's a wonderful addition to my huge needleroll collection, containing all of 5 rolls at the moment... :)

I've received a very early birthday gift this week too. We (three stitching friends) usually celebrate our birthdays at the same time in the summer and give gifts to each other, it's fun :) Ritva's birthday is in April and mine in September, so we celebrate around Maria's birthday, which is in the middle :) Maria already gave us beautiful bags in the beginning of the summer and this week I received this blue ort bag from Ritva. It's designed to my stitching armchair and I just love it :) The band continues to the back so that the bag stays still. There's also a place for scissors under the blue flower, I think it's so practical! The rest of the family is happy too, as they won't find orts anymore everywhere around the house and in their clothes... :)

Below you'll see what I stitched for Ritva and Maria. I made small pockets on the back of these autumnal pinkeeps. The design is Bent Creek Red Thread Snappers Wreath and I changed some colours. I don't usually enjoy stitching the same design twice, but I enjoyed stitching these for my friends :) The backing fabrics are from Moda charm packs, I realized they are perfect for small pinkeeps!

Shelleen teki tämän neularullan Make a Wish -vaihdossa, ihanan syksyinen! Itse asiassa hän joutui pistelemään kaksi työtä, ensimmäinen paketti oli tullut hänelle takaisin ilman neularullaa... Shelleen ystävällisesti pisteli uuden rullan ja se tuli turvallisesti perille tällä viikolla. Kiva lisä valtavaan neularullakokoelmaani, joka käsittää kokonaista viisi neularullaa tätä nykyä :)

Tällä viikolla sain myös aikaisen synttärilahjan :) Marian ja Ritvan kanssa vietämme yleensä kaikkien kolmen synttäreitä kesällä ja vaihdamme lahjoja, ihan vaan huvin vuoksi :) Ritvan synttärit ovat huhtikuussa, minun syyskuussa ja Marian siinä keskellä, niinpä olemme sopineet että juhlimme Marian synttäreiden aikoihin :) Mariahan teki ihanat kesäkassit jo alkukesästä ja nyt sain Ritvalta tämän sinisen roskiksen! Se on suunniteltu minun pistelynojatuolia varten ja nauha jatkuu tyynyn taakse, niin että roskis pysyy hyvin paikoillaan. Myös saksille löytyy paikka ruusun alta. Tosi käytännöllinen ja kaunis! Muukin perhe tykkää kun ei enää tarvitse poimia langanpätkiä milloin mistäkin... :)

Alapuolella kuvissa neulavahdit, jotka puolestani tein Ritvalle ja Marialle. Malli on Bent Creek Red Thread Snappers Wreath ja vaihdoin joitain lankoja. Yleensä en jaksa tehdä samaa mallia kahta kertaa, mutta näitä oli kiva pistellä samanaikaisesti ystäville :) Taustakankaat on tilattu jenkeistä, ne ovat Modan charm pack -paketeista, joissa on pino samankokoisiksi leikattuja kangaspaloja. Hoksasin että ne ovat just sopivia (5½" eli vähän toistakymmentä senttiä) pienten töiden viimeistelyyn!

Merci Leena!! August Goals - Tavoitekatsaus

July was hectic like the whole summer and I'm happy that it's August! Life WILL calm down, I'm sure about it :) This is something I received in July, it was such a wonderful surprise to receive! Leena stitched this to thank me, it was completely unnecessary, but I love this little pillow :) It's perfect with the French text and I also wanted to show you the cute backing fabric. The design is a freebie by Maryse and I think it's such a lovely design.

It's August and autumn is coming and I just LOVE that :) We've had couple of really chilly mornings, +2C (36F) very early yesterday morning and I think that definitely means autumn is coming. I didn't write July goals at all and honestly I've not had much stitching time this summer. But here's the review nevertheless. My goals for June (and July I guess) were:

* Stitch and finish couple of gifts, Yes (stitched five)
* Finish Xmas ornie exchange, Yes
* Stitch and finish Make a Wish exchange for Tuula, Yes
* Stitch and finish Make a Wish exchange for Andrea, Yes
* Stitch and finish Heart Exchange (local stitchers), Yes
* Start stitching Autumn exchange for Veronica (Seasonal exchangers), Yes (I've started)
* Stitch one or two Christmas ornaments (SAL with Stephanie), Yes almost (at least started... :) )
* Continue stitching Spanish Mystery Sampler, complete at least part 1, No (I've continued stitching, but not completed the 1st part)
* Continue stitching St Hippolyte, complete at least the current band, YES!!

Goals for August:

Voi mikä heinäkuu ja kesä, ihanaa tohinaa, mutta ihana kun on elokuu! Elämä ihan varmasti rauhoittuu vähän :) Tällaisen ihanuuden sain heinäkuussa jo, ihana ihana ylläri! Kaima teki tämän kiitokseksi, ihan turhaan, ei olisi tarvinnut, mutta tykkään siitä kovasti :) Tosi nätti pikku tyyny, ihana saada tällaista yllätyspostia. Kiva kun siinä on ranskaksi teksti, malli on muuten Marysen ilmaismalli. Kiitos tuhannesti Leena tästä ihanasti tehdystä tyynystä!!

Aamut on olleet viileitä jo, syksy tulee jee :) On siis aika kirjoittaa elokuun tavoitteita, viimeksi olen kirjoittanut kai kesäkuulle tavoitteita ja tosi tosi vähän olen tänä kesänä ehtinyt pistellä. Mutta joka tapauksessa, kesäkuun (ja kai siis heinäkuunkin) tavoitteet olivat:

Tässä kuussa on aika paljon lahjoja pisteltävänä (joiden pitäisi olla valmiita jo...), niinpä ei varmaankaan ole aikaa juuri muille pistelyille kuin vaihdoille ja lahjoille :) Spanish Sampleria haluan pistellä eteenpäin, kovasti tahdon napata kiinni aikataulussa ja päästä aloittamaan kakkososaa myös. Värit näyttävät tosi kivoilta siinäkin!
